The Emergency Health and Safety Trainers Was founded in 2014 by Mr. Garth Richards, while completing his tenure at the University of West Indies Mona Campus. Emergency health and safety trainers started out with a single instructor completing training sessions. In 2017 emergency health and safety trainers evolved, increasing course offerings and as well as instructors to its fleet.
Mr. Richards holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of West Indies, Mona campus. Mr. Richards also holds an Associates of science degree in Natural Sciences from the Brown’s Town Community College. Mr. Richards completed is emergency medical technician training at the pre-hospital emergency medical services (PHEMS) unit. Mr. Richards continued to forge his career path of EMS when he migrated to the United States of America by completed his national registry for EMT and furthering his education completing his paramedic certification at the Broward College in Florida.
Emergency health and safety trainers has now grown, offering over 17 courses internationally. Our instructors are well equipped with the knowledge and skills based on their years of experience as firefighter paramedics and has been fully engaged in emergency medical services. We re-opened our doors in Jamaica 2023 as emergency health and safety trainers. In 2024 we renamed emergency health and safety trainers to in fact, align it with our core objectives and principles under the new name emergency medical services and safety training institute. Emergency medical services and safety training institutes operates in two regions Jamaica at 1 downer Ave, Kingston 5 Jamaica and in Fort Lauderdale FL.
